I'm so happy to recommend AK Plumbing! Short version: Ask for Ray - he was terrific! He was patient, professional, polite, respectful and informative. I would definitely use AK Plumbing again and absolutely refer friends to Ray and the company.Long version: I arrived home to discover that my hot water heater was broken. I called AK Plumbing, recommended by the water tank manufacturer, and spoke with Emily. She was friendly and professional; setting up an appointment with Ray for the next day. From the start, Ray was patient, professional, polite, respectful and informative. He called 20 minutes before the appointment to let me know he was on the way. This was helpful because I had another meeting overlapping with his. When he arrived, we discussed the problem. The water heater was still under warranty so I expected that the manufacturer would pay for any parts and for the labor to repair it. Ray explained that the manufacturer would pay for the part, but not the labor cost. I was not happy with this answer! I asked Ray to explain to me why that was the case. He explained again that this was the arrangement with the manufacturer. I asked again why it worked that way and why the manufacturer didn't stand behind its' product. Ray never took offense or got defensive. He just stayed calm and repeated that that was how it worked. Then I had to go back to my other meeting while he went straight to work to discover the problem. He texted me that the electronic control box had failed. He did not have the part in his truck, but could get it within a couple of days. This would have meant Day 5 of no hot water. Ray went above and beyond to make a temporary, but effective repair that would work until the new part arrived. I was so grateful to be able to do the piled-up dishes and take a shower!

The largest factor in determining the cost of a new well is the depth of your well. Unfortunately, in order to calculate the actual depth of your well, a AK Plumbing expert will have to drill into it. Other factors that determine the cost of a new well are the type of well system (standard or constant pressure), the size of the tank, the horsepower of the pump, and the distance of the well to your house. Additionally, we take public information on other wells in your area into consideration upon calculating the cost of a new well.
Once the permit is granted and received, it typically takes on average, about a week’s time to drill a new well. This process includes drilling the well, hooking it up, and testing the water. However, it cannot be guaranteed, especially during summer. It is always best to apply for the permit at least a month in advance to ensure everything goes smoothly and you may want to consider having AK Plumbing apply for the permit on your behalf for accuracy as the application process is something that might not be familiar to you.
Well pumps are rated in GPM (Gallons per Minute). A typical three to four bedroom house requires around eight to 12 GPM. When determining your home water needs, add one GPM for every water fixture in your home. A AK Plumbing plumbing expert will also be able to accurately calculate what size well pump is needed for your home and water needs.
The type of pump, its depth, location, and the size of your well all determine the cost of replacing and/or installing a submersible well pump. Have a trusted AK Plumbing plumbing expert assess your home and water needs to get a quote on the cost to install a submersible well pump.
If you notice your well pump is running constantly, it is highly likely there is a larger underlying problem with your pump. Potential issues with your well pump could be a leak in the drop pipe, air leaks in the impeller of the pump casing, faulty check valves inside of the well pump, and/or a damaged foot valve at the bottom of your well. If your well pump is running constantly, call a AK Plumbing repair expert to help resolve the issue.
If your well pump is properly maintained, it should be okay to turn off your well pump. When doing so, it’s also a good idea to shut off the power to the hot water heater. In rare cases, a broken water line can siphon water out of the hot water heater, causing damage to the unit. It’s important to have your well pump properly maintained by a AK Plumbing professional at least once a year.
